Tech-Related Head and Neck Strain, Modern Ailments and Solutions for a Digital World

If you read the news about current health and wellness issues, you will notice that head and neck problems are on the rise. Younger and younger people are reporting a variety of headaches ranging from tension to sinus and all forms of migraines. People are developing neck and shoulder problems decades before we used to see them. So, what is the state of the world? The world is changing because of technology.

Cell phones, tablets, laptops, and even desktop computers are posing substantial problems for many people. The reason for this is that we have all been holding our heads in improper positions for far too long, putting tension on the musculature. This strain will begin to alter the resting tone or posture, that we carry with us. This shift in tone affects how the muscles hold the head. As the pressure rises, it restricts blood flow and nasal drainage just enough to induce a little blockage.

The blood backing gradually reduces the oxygen that enters the brain, resulting in headaches of various types. The restriction of the lymph flow out of the sinuses causes stagnation, which leads to increased sinus and ear infections. The solution is to raise your monitors higher on your workstation so that you are gazing up, not up with your eyes, but up. You should be able to feel a collar on your shirt with the back of your head, almost as if your head is resting on your shoulders.

Standing will not help the head and neck troubles; it will aid the back but not the head and neck. If you spend a lot of time on your phone, you should consult a chiropractor and make sure your neck is appropriately worked on. Also, ensure that your chiro fixes your ears properly. Yes, you can adjust an ear; it's the quickest approach to getting rid of an earache or infection.
