Optimizing Hormonal Balance for Effective Fitness, The Key to Unlocking Your Health Goals

It's that time of year again when we all begin to consider making some health improvements. That's excellent; I'm delighted you're improving yourself. I frequently hear folks say that they want to get back in shape but don't know where to begin. If this describes you, I would advise you to begin by having your hormones tested. To be more specific, testosterone, estrogen, thyroid, IGF1, and HGH. These hormones begin to decline as we age, whether we are men or women. If any of these hormone levels are too low, your efforts may be futile. Not only can this be depressing, but it can also lead to injury while attempting to improve your health without the right hormone levels.

Both men and women require testosterone to ensure metabolism, fat loss, muscle maintenance and growth, cognitive function, anxiety and depression reduction, and overall energy. If you have low testosterone, you may lack the stamina and motivation to even go to the gym. Worse, if you force yourself to go, you won't get anything out of it. You will be sicker and will not shed weight or increase muscle. This is significant whether you are a man or a woman. Estrogen can be too high in both men and women, but it is more common in men.

When you have more estrogen than you need, you retain water and have more problems with fat around the hips, breasts, and pecs. Thyroid hormone normally indicates that your stomach and adrenals require assistance, but it can be the lone problem in rare situations. Low growth hormone levels can slow down any change in the body and impede overall tissue recovery. It is critical that you work with a doctor or a group that has experience not only with hormones but also with the nutrients that need to be added or increased to allow the hormones to be safer and more successful in helping you achieve your goals.
