Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:03] So I talked about when we were going to get back. When I got back from the trip, I would go through all of a sudden what I was taking, why I was taking them. That whole thing. So we go from talking about this album to we're going to do that next week. However, I wanted to stop and of go over the most important thing, for health and for marriage and for business and for everything. The most important thing that you guys need to we all need to recognize is our mindset, the way that we look at a problem, the way that we look at the world, whether within ourselves, matters more than any supplements, any hormone, any. Anything else in the exercise? Anything else? Your mindset is what drives everything you do and why you do it and how you do it. So if you start looking at the world from a negative viewpoint, or you start looking at it from a toxic viewpoint, it's hard to do anything but create more negativity, more toxic toxicity. If you if you go into a problem and you're looking at why the other person messed it up instead of, you know, taking responsibility for your peace, your first or as well, that's one thing we're going to have lots and lots of issues. So one of the things that I see with people who get better is they have a positive, optimistic things are going to get better. I'll do this and things will get better. Mindset.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:27] We see people who are on the other side of that who don't think things are going to work and, you know, just think the world's out to get them. And, you know, everything's terrible and they end up not getting nearly as better as everybody else. And here's the fun thing. There's a lot of times where we'll have people come in and we'll work with them, and they will get objectively better, substantially. Like you can just check it off. We lost the fat. They gave the energy, they got this and this and they got, you know, eight and nine and ten things that we were going for. And they got them quickly like in the first six months. There are those people who are who will have all that benefit, who will have all that success, will have all that positivity. And they're focused on the 1 or 2 things they didn't get that they really need it, or they really want it, or they're focused intently on, you know, this thing went from a two to an eight, but an it's not a ten. And so it's a failure. That happens a decent amount. That type of mindset needs to be corrected. You're never going to be happy if you don't do that. The the way that you start your day with, everything kind of goes through it. When you wake up in the morning, you know, and there's been studies on this, and I don't think we need a whole lot of studies to figure out that, you know, if you wake up and you focus on the negative and you focus on what you don't have, you focus on the things that you know that are holding you, you know, that are bad and things you can't control, like the government and you know, things like that.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:55] If we focus on those things. Then you're always going to be in a position of negativity. If you wake up and focus on gratitude, here's the things I'm happy I have today. Here's the things that you know are better today than they were yesterday. Here's the things that I've done that have helped my life. Help drive me in the right direction. If we focus on those things, we get more of those things, you know? And you can go into any religion you want. You can go into any philosophy you want to. You know, and the idea of karma kind of comes up. And I know that a lot of Christians like to. Karma's anti-Christian. But I've always looked at the you reap what you sow as a pretty solid, all you need to hear function of. If you put negativity in, you're going to get negativity out. If you put positivity and you're going to get positivity. Yeah. If you put the need and the desire to grow in, you will get the ability to grow out the things you're open to, the things you are looking for, the things that you're constantly focused on, are the things you're going to find. And you can see this a little weird, fun things as well. I got to talk to people about this before.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:04] If you're if you've ever started thinking about buying a new car and you kind of focus on that and you're like, okay, I'm going to, you know, blue Corvette all of a sudden, and you're really you're researching them online, you're looking for them, you're thinking about it. And then as you're driving down the road, you see a lot more blue corvettes and you're like, well, that's because you're, you know, you're focused on it and you, you've always seen them. However, you know, it just didn't register in your mind. And now it does. All right. Fine. That's if you want to take it that way. Fantastic. Again, if you focus on the things that are making your life more positive, you're going to see them more often. If you focus on the things that are negative, you're going to see them more often. And so that's the thing. So if you focus on the negativity and 20 great things happen and four bad things happen, but you really focus on those four bad things, you're going to miss the 20 great ones. And I think that there's a lot of that that is problematic for people. We start looking at our the things that are stressing us out. We start looking at the things from the news that are coming up. You know, that we can't do anything about. And it's always horrible and terrible. You know, no matter what side you're on, right? You're you're left.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:11] You're right. It doesn't matter if you focus on the things that you can't control and that are good or bad or whatever the issues is that if you focus on the good things, you're going to start kind of building up the news, and the world and society will give you all kinds of horrible, terrible, negative things that you can't control. You know, if you look at social media, if you look at, you know, the news, it's all, you know, horrible, terrible negative things that you have no control over that you just have to sit and absorb all the negative and horrible things, and then you go, and what are you going to talk about with your friends who also watch the news? You're going to talk about those horrible, terrible things that neither one of you have any real control over. And so all we're going to start to do is just kind of fester and grow and expand this, you know, bubble of, you know, horrible, terrible things that are happening to me in the world and negativity, all this, all this bad stuff. And that's just that's the world you're going to live in. And so those are some of the things that you we need to start fixing first. If we can that's that's what we talk about, psychological stress. We talk about the neurologic changes from the sympathetic parasympathetic function. That's what we're talking about. So if you really want to start dealing with your psychological stress, we need to start turning off the news. Because here's the thing. It's like, oh, I don't know if I don't watch the news, I'm not gonna know what's going on.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:29] Can you control any of those things that are going on? If something bad happens, can you go? I'm going to step in and fix this. I'm gonna make this better. If you can't, then you're just sitting, feeling. You're viewing your body with negativity, filling yourself with, you know, angst and things that you can't control and things that you know are negative. And then you go, oh my gosh, I hope someone fixed it. I'll watch the news tomorrow to see if someone figured out how to fix it. They didn't turn it. That's not what the news is going to show you. And if they do figure out a fix it, it'll be a ten second. They fix us if we move on to the next negative thing, we're super focus on negative. So keep that in mind. In fact, if you're going to you're like, well, I'm not really ready to give up the news or give it social media. Look at it from that angle. Start looking at the things on your feed. Start looking at the things from the news. Doesn't, you know, Fox News, CNN. I don't really care. Pick one, pick them all. Like, if you're following them all on your feed, see how much of that stuff you would consider a bad story? You know, so that's scary. So then you know of impending doom, you know, oh, my gosh, you know, we're going to war. We're going to have famine. We're going to have, you know, global warming and whatever the negative slant on things is, see how much of it that you look at. And you're like, I consider that a scary, bad thing the news is telling me about.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:45] And if the vast majority of the things that you watch are scary, bad things, then look at it and be like, how much do those things can I control? I watched this thing. It was horrible. All these kids died in Africa. Can you fix that? If you can, you should. If you can't. Is it adding negativity to your life that's going to, you know, create more negativity or is it adding a positive step? If it's adding positivity, if it's adding things that make you happier, make you feel less stressed, that you make you feel more relaxed, make you feel more at ease and fantastic, dive into that. If it doesn't, that's a problem. Now, I'm not saying that we shouldn't. We should avoid problems. If you can fix a thing, fix it. If you can't, if you don't have the power, you don't have the ability. You don't have whatever you need to fix it. Then let it go. Like let somebody else deal with that. We do what we can and we move on. There's a lot of. There's a lot of issues that we're dealing with right now, and I see it on a daily basis and people are just totally consumed with. And they don't have any power to fix those things. So. Let it go. Flex. Worry about the things you can fix. Worry about what your kids are doing. Worry about what you're doing. Worry about you know.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:08:59] Are you taking personal responsibility for your health, for your finances, for your relationships, for those other things? You know, that's the type of thing, but also recognize all the good things you've done. Yeah, and I know I realize we're all taught, you know. Oh, you don't have, don't don't talk about the good things you've done. Don't, you know, be humble. And I think the problem is that people don't understand what humility is. Humility is knowing you're fantastic, but not being a dick about it. Like, if you're the best guy in the room. Help the other guys out. Yeah, if you're the strongest, if you're the smartest, if you're whatever and, you know, help other people out. But you don't have to talk about how great you are. So there's a there's a lot of, a lot of my favorite sayings are from sports. And my, my very favorite one about this is, you know, I can't remember who was there's a famous running back and he said, when you're good, you tell everybody how good you are. When you're great, they tell you. And so that's kind of that's always been something I've always thought of, is if you have to tell people how great you are, then you're not great. You're good. Like Tom Brady. You don't have to tell people he's one of the best quarterbacks ever. We all know like it's just one of those things where you've seen what it's done and you're like, you're you're one of the best.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:14] If you want to argue he's not the greatest, that's fine. But he's definitely one of the best quarterbacks ever. He does have to tell you you can see it in his in his life. You can see it in the the the what. His works have that what he's done. So it's kind of one of those things that, you know, there was there was an article I read about how, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady were training together, and they started training with some kids. And I was like some high schoolers. I thought, oh, my God. Like, could you imagine being those high schoolers who are getting to train with and learn from two of the greatest quarterbacks of our time. And how much how awesome that would be. I'm not even a quarterback, and I'd like to go be part of that. But that's kind of the thing. We fill ourselves with positivity. We fill ourselves with, you know, the things that we can change and the things that we've made better. And we focus on the things in our lives that are positive that we're happy about. You know, and it doesn't have to be grand. It's I woke up this morning. I can feed my kids. You know, it's the house is still here. It doesn't have to be something, you know, crazy. But if you start kind of focusing on all the positives and start kind of recognizing when the negativity comes in and try to figure out, can I fix this? If I can, I should.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:30] If I can't, I have to let it go. And I know a lot of that stuff is trite, but it's it's trite for a reason, we've say all the time for a reason. And I think if we start focusing on those things that we understand are true, that are just difficult. I think that we're going to be in a lot better space. So before I started talking about chemistry and exercise and hormones and supplementation, things like that, I wanted to make sure that I at least came out and said, you know, this is the most important thing. And this isn't something you can buy. This isn't something that you can, you know, have gifted to you. This is something you have to build. You have to work on it. Getting a mentor, getting a coach will help tremendously. Because working on a thing with more than one person. So you get objective function is fantastic. You can say, this is what I did, and some say, oh, that's, you know, have you thought about this? Have you thought about that? Or you can bring a problem terms and see what's going on, and then they can work it back and forth. This is the fellowship piece. That religion talks about, and it's really important. So if you, if you have somebody who can mentor you or can help you, great. If you know, when you're buddies is always super positive and things like that, go talk to them.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:12:38] You know, they might not have a plan of action, of how to talk to you and how to coach you, how to teach you how to do it. But at least they'll be positive. And so you can start filling your circle with more positivity. So, you know, this is by far the most important part of everything in your life. If you want to have a really positive relationship with yourself, talk about talk to yourself in a positive way. Tell yourself that things like, you know, hey, we've got 5 pounds, which you've already lost ten, right? So congrats. Like live in the in the happy that you've done something positive. You know live in the live in the positivity of you know where you're at. We're always going to you know we're driven to want more things. But how often do we sit around and think about how happy we are for the things we already have? The thing you wanted so badly a year ago or two years ago. Now you have it, and now you've set your sights on something else. That's how we grow, and that's fine. But did you take the time to sit down and be like, man, I'm really proud of myself for getting from there to here where I am today. I'm really happy with the things I have today. I'm really grateful for the things I have today. And the other thing is, if you start recognizing that you're not. Maybe you're putting value in something that shouldn't be there. You're putting your tying your success to things that you shouldn't to. I see a lot of people, and I've talked about this a lot, who've tied their entire functional success rate to how much money they make, and their health care turns to goes to hell.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:14:00] Their family life goes to hell. Everything else around them kind of goes to hell. But they made a lot of money, and I know a lot of those guys and they're miserable. I work on them to put their health back together, and that's that's one of those things. So that's that's the biggest piece. And so, you know, this is a super gargantuan thing. On how to change your entire world, but to change the way you think. But there's tons of research on it. Tons of people have come out and talked about how much it's been beneficial for their lives. So if you haven't started thinking about, you know, practicing gratitude every morning and every night, you know, and that's one of the great things about prayer, because if you sit down here, pray here, you're a focus. Everything. We're close our eyes. We're we're going to direct ourselves in one, one piece. And if you start off by talking about all the things you're happy for, all the things you're grateful for, all the things that made today functional. If you start off with that, and then you end your day with all the things that you that you went through your day that were great, and maybe then your day was full of trash, maybe 90% of your day or 95% your day was bad. Find the 5%, 5 to 10%. That was good. If it's 1 or 2 things, start with that. Just focus on the 1 or 2 things that were good. And the more you start focusing on the good, the easier and easier will get. And so you'll start finding more and more good things about your day. But sometimes you're going to find things you'll be like, I'm going to say this because I feel like I have to, but I still feel like my day was trash overall.
Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:15:29] Fine. That's totally fine. Just focus on the 1 or 2 things that that were objectively positive, and you can start moving on, but do that more often and that'll kind of push you in the right direction. But this is kind of the thing that I wanted to make sure that I didn't give lip service to. We don't talk about this very much. But this is the most important thing by far. You can not have supplements. You can not have, you can have all sorts of toxins in your life. But this is the thing, when we take this negativity out, we get rid of this psychological stress. We allow our bodies to relax and calm down and breathe. Everything in the body gets better neurologically. Digestive function, you know, toxins. Everything in the body gets better. When we take that psychological stress off, the sympathetic state off. And the best way to do that is through mindset. And the best way to do that is to just focus on the positivity and let the stuff you can't fix, the negative stuff you can't fix go. Then start working on the negative stuff you can, but don't dwell in the negativity. So, that's the best thing. You guys have questions here. So questions that Thomas welcome. Drop in the comments. But this is by far the most important piece. If we can focus on putting less negativity out, we're going to have a lot better success. So, thanks for your time, you guys. Have a nice day.
