Dr Chalmers Path to Pro - Questions@ CICO Heavy metals

The flawed concept of Calories In, Calories Out (CICO) and its shortcomings are addressed. The CICO model oversimplifies weight management by treating all calories as equal, failing to account for the different ways the body processes carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Diets like keto and carnivore, which emphasize higher protein intake, can lead to faster fat loss, contradicting the CICO model. The importance of understanding hormonal balance and individual metabolic differences in weight management is underscored, criticizing the reliance on weight as the sole measure of body function, particularly when using weight loss drugs like Ozempic, which can lead to muscle loss and other side effects.

The topic of heavy metals detoxification is also discussed, emphasizing the importance of preparing the liver and kidneys for effective detox. The widespread sources of heavy metal contamination, including food, water, air, and everyday products like aluminum deodorants, are outlined. There is a warning against the improper use of detox supplements, which can cause severe symptoms if the body isn't ready to excrete the toxins. It is advised to use multiple binding agents and work with professionals to ensure safe and effective detoxification. The necessity of heavy metal detoxification for everyone is stressed, given the pervasive contamination in the environment.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:00:04] Today's Friday questions at Chalmers. Com. So a couple of questions. I get this one a lot. The major question is what is my issue with calories in, calories out? It's it's obviously a flawed system that doesn't work. When you actually look at it, what calories in, calories out tells you is that, you know, you have to if you're in a calorie deficit, you're going to lose weight. If you're in a calorie surplus. You're going to get fat. That's what I say. And so they say, count the number of calories you consume. If it's above a certain number, you get fat. If it's below a certain number. You lose fat. The problem with that is that if you're counting all these things up and they tell you that carbohydrates are worth four and proteins are worth four. What that means is that they're telling you that insoluble fiber, which does not get absorbed at all, sugars and proteins all work exactly the same way in the body as far as, fat gain and, fat loss go. So what the calories in, calories out tells you is that you could have a, you know, 2000 calorie diet comprised of entirely pure sugar or entirely pure protein. So state and it would affect you from a fat 10.100% the same way. So if you've ever noticed that people who are on keto or people who are on carnivore, people are on a very high protein diet. Lose fat faster. Then that would mean that calories in, calories out doesn't work.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:01:36] So they're calories in. Calories out is lying and doesn't work for everyone who's done keto and everyone who's done carnivore and lost fat. They're lying and their system doesn't work because you can't have both. You can't have a high protein diet, help you lose fat, and tell me that sugars and fiber and protein are all exactly the same benefit or detriment to the body. The problem is, people don't want to dig into the chemistry and actually figure out what's going on. So it's kind of a laziness thing. Combined with this is always how it's been, and the, the myopic view, just measurements. So when you look at the people who are telling you this, they've got they say, look, we did this thing. It works for me. We did this thing. It works for these people and the people it didn't work for. They're just fat and lazy and not willing to do the work because I gave them a program. My program is perfect and flawless, and every, every facet, they just messed up, ran it properly because had they ran it properly, it works. And it works every single time. The problem is, is that it works for one group of people who's who's neutrally hormonally balanced. So insulin and glucagon, they respond to pretty much equally well the guys on the other end of the spectrum. But they never see you never see the guys in weight loss groups who can't gain weight.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:02:51] So they got all the extra morphs, all the guys who everyone knows, these guys that no matter what they eat or what they drink, they don't gain weight. You know, the extra large pizza with a case of beer three nights a week never gain an ounce from it. You know where you know, they they eat donuts. They all. They eat all the time, all sorts of stuff, and they never go anywhere. Those guys are never considered in the category of how do we lose weight? If you don't consider the guys who can't gain weight, you don't have an understanding of the how the body actually works. Because again, those guys, it's the calories in calories. That model works when they need a bunch of calories. They should get fat, but they don't. And then the guys on the other side, the end of course, the guys who are lazy and just not work in the system, those guys who eat very, very little and still get fat. Then you have to say, okay, well, what's going on here? Now, the problem is, is that you're also looking at wait. Wait is the worst way that you could judge body function by body functional change. And the reason for this is because muscle and fat both get used for energy. So if you lose 5 pounds, you don't want to lose 5 pounds of muscle, you want to lose 5 pounds of fat. And the problem is, is if you just go on a scale and go, oh, I'm down 3 pounds today.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:04:01] Did you lose fat? Did you lose my food as you lose water or did you lose? And so that's one of the problems we start getting into of the over 29, which is why people who don't know how to use event pack, which is 90% of the population, is usually given by people who have no metabolic understanding. They lose so much weight, but it's all muscle mass. Like the research shows, 40 to 50% of the weight loss on Ozempic, is from lean muscle tissue, which is I can go into hours of why that's a horrible, terrible thing. But the other thing that they don't understand is that those, those GLP one receptors are also in the gut. And so what happens is it slows out and stops motility. So we see lots of colitis. We see lots of intestinal damage. We see, perforations. I know several people who have had almost died because of the govi or the ozempic they've been on. Again, you can use those things are actually great to use if you understand that the functional how they work, which is not that difficult. It's just people don't understand hormone function. So that's my big issue with it. So if we start focusing on a macro function and start cutting down our sugars, increasing, if you're going to have carbohydrates increasing insoluble fiber and radically increasing the protein, fat doesn't seem to have a whole lot of function on the hormone piece.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:05:19] But what it does do is that when it's in the system, if you're if your body's told to store things, it'll store all the sugar and all the fat. So that's where you get a lot of stuff. And then fat is actually broken down into individual carbon functions. So. Me and chain and, long chain triglyceride function of the amount of carbon from the fat dictate how it's absorbed utilized in the body. Again, that's not going into in the calories in, calories out model. Because I guess the biggest thing is that you they can't you cannot take the calories argument to a chemistry level because show me what a calorie is chemically. How many carbons does it have? How many bonds does it have? Where are the bonds? How is the calorie? The same thing from proteins, fats and carbohydrates. How are you getting the exact same molecule from all these are things. So it's just absurd. So you can't have a chemical conversation. And the body's a chemical engine. When we talk about calories. So that's the big thing. You guys want to talk about thermodynamic function of blah, blah, blah. Okay, fine. Bring it up. Doesn't work for biological system. That's the biggest thing. So and then go back and explain to me why carbohydrates make people fat and why proteins make people lean. However, they're exactly the same worse in your system. So that's where that is.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:06:36] The other question was on heavy metals, like, you know, if we take chlorella, can we take things like that to detoxify heavy metals? You can. Don't don't just jump into this because here's the thing. We have a very, very, very poor understanding of how the body works. So I was talking to a patient yesterday, and she told me that her medical doctor told her that the B vitamins were not being absorbed. And he said that, you know, when your urine changes colors because of the evidence that shows you that the B vitamins are not being absorbed at all, which is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Because if you put something in your mouth. So here's the biggest thing you have to understand. If you put something in your mouth from your mouth to your anus is not inside your body. The way that we view it is it's outside your body because things have to be absorbed through the digestive tract, which is why it is judge the function on and working. It's not a sword. It's not in your body until it gets absorbed. Right. So here's the thing. If you take a B vitamin and it goes in your mouth and then it comes out your urine, it was absorbed because it had there's no it's like your stomach is directly connected to your bladder. That's how it works. It's absorbed in the tissue taken through the whole body, through the lens, through the blood system, through the whole thing, and then filtered out through the kidney to become Europe.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:07:53] So if your urine changes color, you did absorb those B vitamins. The problem is that you didn't you didn't. You got more than you needed. So if you taken ten units this is very common and you only need three. You're just like, cool. Thank you. These are water soluble. We're going to take what we want and just not take what we don't want. So the rest of this stuff is just in the blood cycling through. And it gets filtered out to the kidneys. And so that's what you're saying is this stuff you didn't use your lord but did not need or did not use. Now, since they're water soluble, it's totally fine to radically increase the B vitamins and then whatever you don't need, you just excrete. The problem with it is, and we've see this if you take a B vitamin in the morning and your urine change changes colors for the next 5 or 6 hours, and then, you know, three, 4 or 5:00 in the afternoon, your urine is back to its original color. Well guess what? Your body has cycled out all of the B vitamins that are in your blood. So you still are low as you get down through the rest of the day. So taking these more often is actually more important thing to do. The other thing that we see is that again, we have them to Cha issues. So you know you're not going to like utilize some B vitamins. That's a problem. You don't have a lot of the cofactors required, to utilize all these B vitamins. So you do have those issues as well. That's where a lot of that that comes from. So when we start talking about heavy metals, the thing is, is that we have to get some out of the body. Right.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:09:18] And so you have to get your kidneys and your liver open and ready to detox. Because if you take this, this thing that's supposed to remove heavy metals, but you can't excrete them, they just to bounce around your body and then go back into different tissues so you're not actually getting them out. So some of these products you supplement that are designed to excrete heavy metals from your tissues. Make sure you're taking a proper binding agent. Make sure that you clean your liver and your kidneys ahead of time so that they can deal with it. Lots and lots and lots of times we'll talk to people who are doing hitting that are cleanses, and they're having horrible detox reactions. You know, if they start having skin issues, they start having stars in their eyes. They start having, you know, they start feeling like they have a flu. They start having nightmares, they start having skin issues. They start having their issues. They start having all these things because their body is freeing up or allowing these things to come out of storage. There's heavy metals, fat storage, but they can't get out of the body very well. And so they're just bouncing around trying to get however they can. So if you're gonna start doing these things, you need to start kind of dealing with that type of thing. And the question of where are we getting all these heavy metals? The vast majority of our food, water and air are highly contaminated. You can talk about that, you know, with are spraying on us for, you know, climate change issues. Fine. That's definitely part of it. But the aluminum, the deodorants, that's your. I'm sorry, your antiperspirant. Highly toxic to the brand. There's a giant amount of stuff that's, you know, it's from the cars.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:10:48] The cars aren't killing the plant. They're definitely killing off, the the lead and all the stuff. Even in the, you know, from the diesel. We've got all that stuff in the air, all of a that we're spraying on our our grasses and things like that to, you know, fertilize or to kill. We just don't like that. There's all that stuff. Yeah. Stuff in it. We have a lot of. Lot of toxins like fluoride a little. Fluoride, chloramines, things like that in our water system that were spray our food we're using to wash our bodies with showers and stuff. So there's a giant amount of this stuff coming in, so we're going to have to move it out. The problem is that you really need to make sure that your body is ready to do that before you start doing a heavy metal cleanse, because you've very, very high chance that you're going to create secondary issues, and not really get them all out. So first of all, don't do heavy metal plates if you still have silver, silver coins, if you're constantly poisoning yourself with the mercury in your mouth, get the mercury out of your mouth before you start trying to pull it out of your tissues. Little things like that. But those are going to be the big things about, having our cleanses. Is that, yes, they're 100% necessary.

Dr. Matt Chalmers [00:11:53] Every single person who lives in United States child, old person, everyone. If you're if you're breathing air in the United States, you need to start doing heavy metal detoxification stuff. You need to make sure the binding agents are strong. You need to make sure that you know you have multiple different binding agents. Zeolites are great, but they don't work for everything. Clays are great and charcoals are great, but they don't work for everything. Just like antioxidants. You can't just take an antioxidant, have it cover all the problems, all the different chemical problems. So you need to take in, understand how those things plan. But having our that are highly, highly, highly important, if you're not working with somebody who understands how to do that and get that done properly, you need to find somebody who deals with this stuff, on a regular basis, because it's going to become a bigger and bigger issue as we go along. So, those are those two issues. If you guys have any other questions, questions at Chalmers Holistic, and, we're knocked out. Thanks for your time.
