CHIROPRACTIC SPINAL CORRECTIVE CARE
Chiropractic spinal corrective care is a process by which using chiropractic adjustments and exercises can change curves, alter structural changes like bone spurs and abnormal physiological boney changes, improve disc health, improve motion, restore muscular balance. This process is very effective at healing problems that have been acquired over time. If you have an issue that was developed over time it will require time in order to repair that problem. Many times it will require several treatments a week for a time. Chiropractic spinal corrective care makes small changes that add up over time. The reason that the process takes such a long time is that if the chiropractic corrective care takes 2 steps forward every day that the patient comes in for treatment and then goes back to a life where forces work against the body thus pushing the body 1 step back. This is why many times it takes a little while to get a desired result. The body is a very dynamic fluid machine that can and does change and remodel on a frequent basis due to the forces and the stress that are placed on it. This normal body function is how chiropractic corrective care works.
Not all people need Chiropractic spinal corrective care. Many people can enter into a slight exercise program with spinal adjustments on a regular basis and never need any spinal corrective changes. However at the same time there are many people that have issues that need to be addressed issues such as: scoliosis, forward head posture, loss of cervical curve, disc degeneration, disc herniation/bulging, boney changes, ossification of tendons, and several other changes.
Patients often ask why does it take so long to make changes, why cant we just speed up the changes? Which is a great question, the answer is that the body can only except a certain amount of change at once with being damaged. If a person is worked too hard they will hit a point called the point of diminishing returns. This states that it is possible to work a body harder than it can recover from. This means that instead of working hard to get better you can actually work too hard be pushed too far and the body can not recover properly from that. The hard thing is that not everyone has the same point of diminishing returns. This is why everyone needs to have a personalized treatment plan that can and does change to best suit their individual needs. This is why in our office we will reevaluate treatment progress add in new exercises and change treatment protocols depending on the individual persons needs.
